Getting to Blaye

Nothing is easier than going to Blaye!

Via the Gironde estuary

The ferry

A ferry crosses the Gironde estuary every day, all year long. This takes you from Blaye to the Médoc and vice versa. You can take whatever means of transport you use with you on the ferry. Schedules change depending on the date and day of the week.

Public transport

Cheaper and more ecological by coach!

If you do not have a motor vehicle, you can take the train to Saint Jean station in Bordeaux, to the station in Saint-Andre-de-Cubzac (25 km south of Blaye), or go by plane to Bordeaux-Mérignac airport – from where shuttle buses go to the centre of town. Frequent Transgironde coaches also go from Bordeaux to Blaye.

It takes approximately 30 minutes by tram from the station to the coach station: La Buttinière in Lormont. You need to change trams at the Porte de Bourgogne stop, switching from Line C to Line A, direction La Gardette. Transgironde coach lines 201 and 202 will take you to Blaye from the parking area at La Buttiniere.

By car

The most usual way of seeing the region!

Coming from the south, or from Bordeaux, go on the A10 motorway towards Paris and take the 40a exit marked Bourg – Saint-Andre-de-Cubzac.

Drive towards the centre of Saint-Andre if you wish to go to Bourg along the corniche road (d 669).

When leaving Saint-André, turn left towards the Corniche de la Gironde.

Once you have gone past the church in Bayon, turn left to follow the road.  Then turn left towards Blaye at Roque de Thau.

The shortest way!

Coming from the south, or Bordeaux, take the A10 motorway (direction Paris), then exit 40a marked Blaye, then Route Nationale 137 (25 km to Blaye).

Coming from the north, go down the A 10 motorway and take exit 38 (marked Blaye), or else take Route Nationale 137 via Angoulême and Route Départementale 937.
