The guided tour of the citadel by the underground passages allows you to discover the history of Blaye citadel which is registered on the UNESCO world heritage list, and to understand the defence system created by the famous architect Sébastien Vauban. This visit explains the evolution of the site, the life of the soldiers at the time of Louis XIV and how an attack took place in the XVII century. The visit takes place outdoors and through the underground passages. This visit can be combined with a cruise on the Gironde estuary or a visit of the estuary museum with preferential rates.
For individual all year round except 25th of December and 1st of January. In March, April, May and October at 2:30 pm on weekdays and at 2:30 and 4:00 pm on weekends. From June to September every day at 11:00 am, 2:00 pm, 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm. From November to February every day at 2:30 pm.
