Families with children ages 7 to 12 should take the tour specially designed for them as a fun way of discovering the Blaye Citadel. Young recruits will learn all about the lives of soldiers in garrisons under the reign of King Louis XIV. They will practice marching in time through the ditches and singing tunes from the era of Vauban (17th century). They will also have to calculate the height of the citadel’s ramparts and find a secret door leading to an underground passage. Not to mention answering the questions in their activity books based on the guide’s commentary. Advance reservations recommended!
